A gas strike is a workable idea.

Post on Yahoo questions:

how about this idea for lowering gas prices?!?

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. If they are not selling enough gas, they will have to reduce their prices to compete. Then other companies will have to follow suit. If millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers did this it could have a serious impact. If each of us passes on this idea (through email for example) to ten more people within one day of receipt, hundreds of millions of people could theoretically be contacted within the next 8 days. Shouldn’t the BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers?

of course it would be best not to rely on gas at all & to switch to fuel efficient vehicles or alternative energy sources..but in the meantime- might this help?
